Astros Games 10 & 11

I meant to post this one a couple of weeks ago, but got busy...

Paul David's 10th Astros Game of the Season!

One of the reasons I think I didn't post sooner was that we didn't really get a good picture.

This is what we got:

Yes, we've found something that terrifies him...statues! They have these cool statues of Biggio and Bagwell in front of the stadium, and in my effort to take pictures around Minute Maid, I thought this would be perfect...until he clung to Paul and started screaming like we were torturing him! You just never know what will freak him out! What a memorable 10th Game?!

Last night was Game 11:

Paul David in his new ride! He's so comfy in it, and now Daddy can push him around, too...plus it's UT Orange!

And now I present:

CHEETOH FACE AND HANDS!

We brought these back from Mexico, and I'm here to verify that Mexican Cheetoh Puffs ARE messier than American Cheetoh Puffs!

Our Week is almost over :(

It's amazing how fast time goes when you're away from home! We have had the best week up here, and I can't believe it's almost over. The weather was one of my main concerns when I thought of coming to stay here for the week. It gets so hot up here, and most of our time is spent outside. Well, when we got here last Friday, it was nice outside when we were sitting out there playing. Then the weekend was unseasonably cooler than normal and overcast, so it made spending time outside enjoyable. Then the rain came in, and it's been rainy most of the week! Really, the heat has not been a factor! YAY!

Here are some more highlights and observations from the week:

  • Aunt Patricia and Uncle J.T. braved the rain and came to see us Wednesday! We had a great visit with them, and I think they enjoyed watching the kid's antics! Kendall mostly played like she was sleeping, and Paul David stayed in my lap most of the time. Preston on the other hand put on a show for them! Kendall gets surprisingly shy when someone other than one of us comes in the door!
  • I think I've watched Barney and the Egg a bazillion times, but still don't really know what it's about! I did figure out that the title is actually Barney's Great Adventure! I think I like Kendall's title better!
  • I have been in a Wal-Mart everyday for the past 5 days! I may just have to walk in the front door and walk out today not to break my streak!
  • I can't wait to download my pictures to share with you guys! I've been getting some good ones, and hate that you can't see them. Soon, very soon! April does have some up on her blog, so you can hop over there and get a peek!
  • There are two ways to go to my parent's shop where they work, through "town" or the back way! So the other morning I was driving and I asked which way I should go. My mom said that she usually goes through town...that way Kendall can see McDonald's and Chuck E Cheese! I just laughed out loud! So as we were going down the loop, sure enough, Kendall points and says, "McDonalds!" Then, spots Chuck E Cheese! So, so cute! So yesterday, we were on our way to Wal-Mart with just Paul David (Preston and Kendall had stayed with their daddy), and we pass Chuck E Cheese! Paul David says, "Cheese!" and when we passed it, he starts crying and kicking his feet! How do they know these things? It just cracks me up...he's learning so much from Preston and Kendall!
  • I have really enjoyed seeing my parents as Nana and Papa this time for some reason! You can so tell that being Nana and Papa is the best thing that ever happened to them! It's just so cool to see my dad come in the door, and three little ones run to him saying, "Hi, Papa!" You know he's just loving it! Then, when Nana does something, Preston and Kendall say, "Thank you, Nana!" and Paul David will say, "Good Job, Nana!" Just melts your heart! This morning when Paul David woke up, he ran right into the bathroom and said, "Hi Nana!" Then, later, he stood on the porch waving to Papa as he left saying, "Bye, Bye Papa!" So sweet!
  • Kind of on that same note, Paul David has really started saying "Shay" and "J.T." Those are my grandparents, and they live right up the road from my parents. You can see their house from my parents back door. Anyway, the other night Mother and I went for a walk with Paul David in the stroller. Everytime we started up the hill towards Shay's house, Paul David would say, "Hi Shay! I anna see Shay!" and just cry when we passed on by! I know he's finally figuring out how all these people fit together!
  • Paul comes home tonight! He's been in NYC this week working, and we've really been missing him! Paul David sees his picture here at the house and says, "Daddy, Daddy!" I know he misses him so much...I know I do! Poor thing probably won't get to see him until tomorrow though!
  • Paul David was just walking around the living room saying, "Shay...J.T....Shay...J.T." How funny!

So, that's all I can think of for now! I'm going to go feed him some lunch now! I may not post again until Monday...things tend to get pretty crazy around here on the weekends!

The Joy of 3 Small Children

We have had a blast being here with Nana and Papa, but the real fun is being with these kiddos all day long. You really don't know someone until you're with them 9-10 hours a day! It has been so much fun "bonding" with Preston and Kendall and having everyone "bond" with Paul David. They all crack me up! Here are some of the fun things we've been doing lately:

  • First, on the way home from work Monday, Preston exclaims from the far backseat that he needs to go pee-pee...NOW! He had just finished his rainbow snow cone, and Mother is holding the cup (she's tucked in the middle seat between the two honking big carseats). Mother says, kind of jokingly I think, "Do you want to go in this cup?" "YES!" we hear! He did it...he pee-peed in the cup...it was a first, and we were all so proud...except April...I think it kind of grossed her out! Her biggest concern was what was going to happen if he filled up the cup! Somehow, I end up holding the Cup-O-PeePee, and April was determined to hit every bump! As soon as it was all over, I said that this will definately make the blog!
  • Preston and Kendall are a lot like their mommy...they don't eat much. April didn't eat much as a child, and her kids are following suit! It's just so funny because I'm so used to Paul David and how much he eats, and Preston can just survive all day on 2 pieces of cheese and a 100 calorie bag of popcorn! That would just make Paul David mad! He usually eats all of his, then starts on Kendall's!
  • We HAVE to get a train table...Paul David has played for HOURS with the train tracks...never even stopping to find me. I NEED a train table!
  • Yesterday, we went to Kid's Station with Krystal and her kiddos! I took all 3 of these kiddos over there. Kendall really didn't want to go! "I stay with Nana!" she kept saying until Nana told her that there were going to be balls there. In the car she went! We got there, and of course, it starts pouring rain! So, I went around and unbuckled Kendall and told her to stand over by Paul David's seat...she's so good, she actually will do things you ask her to do! Then I opened the back hatch to let Preston out. I got him across the little drive to stand by the door of the place while I got the babies. Don't worry, I kept one eye on him the whole time, and he wasn't very far away...this parking lot of pretty small! So I get the babies out of Paul David's side, put my backpack on my back, hold both their hands in one of my hands and the umbrella in the other. I'm sure we were a sight! They had so much fun though, and thankfully, the toddler area is enclosed with a door, so Krystal and I were able to visit and watch the three babies while the big kids did who knows what! The we did it all again when we left except Preston just came with us and climbed in the back first! So, now I know I could handle a set of twin 2 year olds and a 4 year old...let's hope that's not a sign!
  • We went to Preston and Kendall's last night for a sleepover that turned into just an "over." We got there and played, then took baths, and everyone went off to go to bed. I laid down with Paul David around 8:15...at 9:15, he was still awake. So we got up and went into the living room to watch Tori and Dean with April. I thought he'd for sure go to sleep when we went to bed. Well, at 10, we all three laid down, and Paul David would not be still or be quiet or quit touching my face. I finally got up around 10:45, and apologized to April and said that we were going to go back to Nana's so she could get some sleep! So, no sleep at our sleep over!
  • Here's the thing I've learned the most about Kendall...the girl can SING! She sings all the time...especially when she's going to sleep. It is the cutest thing ever! She sings really LOUD too, which makes it all the cuter. So far, I've heard her sing "The Barney Song" (I love you, You love Me), "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star", "Jesus Loves Me", and today I taught her "Rain, Rain, Go Away!" (I thought I'd taught her, but April said they were singing it on the way to Nana's this morning...oh well!)
  • Here's the thing I've learned the most about Preston...he's hands down the best napper! This child went and laid down today before anyone had even said that it was time. He just decided that he was tired. He'll sleep for 3 hours, too, if a baby doesn't make tons of noise to wake him. It has to be tons of noise, too, because he'll sleep through just about everything!
  • Here's something I learned from Mother...those little Dole Apple Cinnamon Parfait things are so good mixed in regular oatmeal. I love new ways to eat oatmeal!
  • Here's something I've learned about Daddy...he "hearts" the Olympics! He is so funny because he watches it every night. He's getting tired of the gymnastics but other than that he's really into it! So Paul, I guess that is where I get my fondness for watching the Olympics!

I know there's tons I'm forgetting to write about, but maybe I'll remember them another day!

Working with Nana and Papa

We all came to work today with Nana and Papa! It's been a fun day with all three kiddos in a small space...no escaping unless you leave in the car. The one car that is...Mother's car's in the shop, so we're all in April's car because my tags and registration are out. Oh, the fun!

Some highlights of Sunday and today:

  • Last night, Preston and Barry went for a swim in the river...the pond up at the Land! It really grossed us all out, but Preston had a blast! He was swimming really well in there!
  • Paul David and Kendall have been in their PJ's all day! So nice to have to just hang out in PJ's for the day! Paul David's also been sporting Preston's big shoes when he's awake! He woke from his nap and went right to them.
  • Everyone's enjoyed playing trains...we HAVE to get a train track for our house. Paul David has played by himself for hours with the trains!
  • My mom and I had Jack's for lunch...one of my favorite meals here! YUM!

Not much to report! Now we're going to play Explorers on the computer...FUN!

Where Have I Been?

I haven't posted in a awhile, so I thought I'd let you all know that Paul David and I are at my parent's for the week! We went to Kendall's birthday party today, and we'll be here until next weekend! If I get time, I'll try to post some pictures. If not, I'll make a slide show when we get back.

Once again, I've gotten far behind on my ON THIS DAY IN OUR HISTORY, and I forgot to bring my calendar with me. There's really not a ton of time to be on the computer around here, so I probably wouldn't have gotten it done anyway! Be looking for another catch up post on that!

So what's been going on here the last two days?

  • Yesterday, when we got here, Nana and Papa were at the Land. Papa was fishing on the bank of the pond...or river if you're Preston. He caught a fish just as we got there, and Paul David thought it was the best thing ever! He caught another one while we were there, too. They were these little bitty perch, poor things!
  • Last night, Mother, April and I stayed up until 12:30 making Kendall's cake...well, Mother was making Kendall's cake. We had a great time just sitting around visiting though. It was nice to talk to them without having to get up every 5 minutes to check on someone!
  • Paul David and I slept until 8:40 this morning...unheard of here or at home! It was so nice to sleep in.
  • Today on the way to Kendall's party, Mother's transmission started going out...UGH!
  • Kendall's party was a Bouncy good time. It was at a gymnastics place, and it had SIX trampolines in the floor, plus two runway looking trampolines. Then there was a rock climb with a foam pit under it. Then on top of all that, there were 5-6 Blow up thingies. It was so cool, and Paul David finally warmed up to the trampolines and had a blast!
  • After lunch at Mama/Shay's, Mother was taking a watermelon rind to the pasture, and saw a 7 inch snake on the steps. AAAHHH! Daddy's kill #1 for the day. It wasn't moving, so they think the cat may have been playing with it. Daddy just stepped on it's head and killed it.
  • Daddy's bought a flat bottomed boat and all the kid's a fishing rod, so they spent sometime tonight in the boat with their rods pretending to fish. Preston's really good at casting his...better than me for sure! We're going to try to take them fishing tomorrow!
  • After dinner tonight, April and the kids were leaving, so we all went outside with them. I saw a big mound of dirt by the driveway and thought it was an ant hill. I started walking out towards it and saw the dirt move. Then, I saw the gopher head stick out and go back in. So we all just sat and watched, but didn't see much of it. After April had left, my dad did a Gopher Watch, and waited for it to come out. Yes, kill #2 for the night! It's been a big day on the Varmint front around here!

So I think those were the highlights! I'll try to post more the rest of the week...of course, it's all more for me, so I'll remember what all happened while we were here!

Potty Training and Cute Pics!

When I got back from Mexico, I decided we'd go get a potty chair for Paul David to play on and such! The first day we had it, he tee-teed in it...AAHH! I was not expecting that! He does pretty well if I remember to take him, but it doesn't faze him to go ahead and go in his training pants and get soaked! Well, it does upset him, but he still does it! Now, the diaper and pull-ups...he'll just go all day in those! He has had moments where he'd put his hand on his diaper and whine, so I thought he was telling me he needed to go. We've been trucking along pretty well these last few weeks, much to my dismay! See, I thought he'd play with the potty a couple of months, then we'd talk about it a couple of months, and I'd get to go on with my happy, convenient diaper duty! Even after he'd been doing it awhile, I thought there was still hope that he'd lose interest, and we could go back to diapers! Yeah, I'm just lazy that way!

So, Friday night, I took him in for his twice an hour potty break, and low and behold, he POOPED in the potty! Oh, the excitement could be heard a mile away! He was excited, we were excited, it was great! We were all saying, "Yay, poo-poo!" He got a Dum Dum Sucker (I got a great deal on them a couple of weeks ago at CVS! They're our new restaurant/baseball game diversion, and now Poo Poo in Potty Reward!) and was just loving life! He hasn't gone in the potty since, but at least now he knows it's an option!

Then, yesterday, he had accident after accident. Even one right after I'd just taken him, and he'd gone! So maybe there is hope for continuing in diapers:)
He's done well today though...just depends on the day...and the mood...and how hard he's playing!
He's pretty proud of himself when he goes! He smiles so big when he sees tee-tee in the potty, and says "Yay, tee-tee" when he gets his M&M's! Too cute is this child!

Yesterday morning was quite nice outside, so while we were waiting on Grammy (who's name is being changed to Mimi...the kids say it better), I grabbed my camera and took some pictures!

Say Cheese!

Justin's Birthday Party!

Justin's birthday party was Saturday, and we had a great time! We swam most of the morning, then enjoyed pizza, cake and ice cream! YUM...best meal ever to people trying to eat better!
Here are some shots of Paul David from the party!

Mike has more of him swimming, but I haven't gotten those yet! Soon!

And here's the Birthday Boy...officially 13 on Wednesday!

Happy 08-08-08

I had this thought this morning to do something to celebrate the date 08-08-08!
I love it when the date is like that!
I know, I'm a dork!
But the pictures all turned out so cute!
I'm glad I'm dork!

Here's Paul David on 07-07-07! What a cutie!

Our Morning Walk

Most mornings, Sarah, Paul David and I go for our walk at the hospital...not the actual hospital part, but where the doctor's offices are. (Side note: This hospital was originally built as a mall, so it's perfect to walk around...plus it has A/C (which we all love!), restrooms, and a fish tank!)
I finally remembered to take my camera along this morning to capture our time there!

Lap 1: Paul David fusses because he wants to eat!
Lap 2: Paul David Eats!

Lap 3-6: Paul David fusses some more, sucks his thumb awhile, fusses, throws Lovey out, sits back and enjoys the ride, says Hi to our friendly regulars...etc.
Lap: 7-8: Paul David brushes his teeth!
After Lap 8: Paul David is set free from the stroller! First, he looks at the fish!
Then, he sits on all the rocks...or tries to! There's one place that has them that are suitable for sitting!

He likes to "shush" (push) the stroller!

Then, we usually look at the waterfall and he pushes the handicap button to leave. I would have pictures, but my battery went dead! UGH!
