Picking Blueberries

We had our first Blueberry Picking this morning! We did great, and the blueberries are YUMMY!
I think we all got enough to last us a week or so!

Sarah

Gena

Carol

Our Full Buckets-Sarah had the most with 12 pounds!

Paul David enjoying the fruits of my labor!

My Loot! I had a little over 10 pounds. Okay, I did a price comparison on blueberries. This week they are $3.88 at Randall's for 4.4 oz. To get 10 pounds of them, I'd have to buy $139 worth. For my 10 pounds today, I paid a whopping...$15. Now granted I had to pick them myself, but that only took about an hour and a half, and they are SSSOOOO much better than the ones you get in the store!

ON THIS DAY IN OUR HISTORY-May 31

1930-Mama, AKA Shay was born! She was born Defloria Ann, but has always gone by Ann or Mama, and now Shay! Preston decided on Shay, and she loves it! Anybody who knows us, know how much we all love Mama! Here are some things I've learned about Mama over the years:

  • She LOVES God
  • She LOVES Papa
  • She LOVES her kids, Grandkids, and now Great-Grandkids
  • She LOVES and takes care of all her family
  • She LOVES the Cowboys
  • She LOVES quilting
  • She LOVES High heeled Strappy Shoes
  • She LOVES Watermelon
  • She LOVES watching The Young and the Restless, Bold and the Beautiful, As The World Turns, The Guiding Light, Jeopardy, and Wheel of Fortune

We LOVE you, Mama!

Should've Had A V8

So, a couple of weeks ago, I bought these little cans of V8 for myself thinking I'd drink them when I got hungry in the afternoons! Well, in the couple of weeks I've had them, I've drank all of 3. Now, everytime we open the refrigerator, Paul David gets one at and pretends to drink it. Well, yesterday, I decided just to let him have one. It was funny because he took a few drinks of it, then threw it across the floor and immediately reached for his milk! Had to wash that stuff down! We'll see if he still wants them!

Hour of Fun!

Paul David found this Whaterburger Toy in the toy bin, so I got the propeller and showed him how it works. He loved it! Paul finally had to get his hands on it to play, too!

Paul David would just watch and wait for it to go!

Then he'd watch it fly and say "Whoah!" I don't know who had more fun: Paul trying to get it to hit the ceiling or Paul David going to retrieve it!

It provided us a good hour of fun!

Graduation

On This Day in History-May 26 (I know it was yesterday, but I forgot!)

1994- Fourteen (OMG) years ago, the class of 94 walked the gym floor for the last and final time! For me, it was so hard. I loved going to school and being with my friends, but as with most difficult situations, good things were on their way! Our graduation was one for the record books...or maybe the rule books! Our class was something special! We had all gotten together and decided to do something a little different during graduation. We all, okay not all but most, wore or wrote something on their cap to symbolize ourselves. I wore a sunflower, Amanda wrote "We Made It," someone had a rodeo scene, another had a baseball scene, etc. It was great, but unfortunately, the next year's class were unable to receive their caps until right before they walked in the door! Oh, well! I have to say that I had the best time in High School, and at our 10 year reunion, we all enjoyed being back together! I look forward to our 15 year Homecoming Reunion we're planning!

Notice in the class picture that a lot of caps are missing...they were the ones with full scenes on them! They put them on right before we walked out!

Look at how different my mom looks! Wow, those glasses were so 90's!

I want to end with this:

I was reading Ecclesiastes a couple of weeks ago, and this blog reminded me of a verse I had read and written down (probably wrote it down to remember it for this blog!):

"Don't long for "the good old days," for you don't know

whether they were any better than today.

Ecclesiastes 7:10
New Living Translation

Those were good times, but my times today are much, much better!

And We're Back!

I've been posting so regularly that I know you're asking yourself..."Where is she?" Well, we went to my mom and dad's this weekend and had a wonderful time! Paul David was pooped to say the least! I swear he's so busy up there that he doesn't even have time to eat! I promise to post pictures tomorrow...I think I have some really good ones!

I had to get on tonight for my ON THIS DAY IN OUR HISTORY because I think it's a really good one! I'm skipping May 21 and 22 because I can't find anything to go there, but today is pretty big...

On This Day In Our History---May 23rd

2006-On this day 2 years ago, I worked my last day as a kindergarten teacher and started my first day as Stay At Home Mom or as I sometimes refer to myself...CEO of this household (Paul's Definately the CFO (Chief Financial Officer) and since he can't be both, by fault, I'm CEO! I truly feel that this is what I was born to do! I love being in charge of our child, our home, and our day to day stuff! Sometimes, it's less than glamourous, but I know if it were that it wouldn't be days filled with going to the park and staying however long we want. There would be no watching Little Einsteins "Annie's Love Song" every single day because it has fish in it! There would be no story time at the library, playgroups, and the possiblility of missing those kisses when HE's ready to give them out! I'm telling you I wouldn't miss any of this for the world! We are so blessed that I'm able to do this! Thank you, Paul for all YOUR hard work! Starting this job was my best career move I ever made! I love being Paul David's "Mom-E!"

All About Baseball!

Paul David has a new game he likes to play with us. It is too cute! He brings us a ball (and last night he brought a bat, too). We tell him to go get ready, and he does this:

Then, we throw the ball to him...we're working on catching it-hard to do with the cast! Most of the time we get a great laugh out of him if we hit him on the head with it---it's a soft ball!

So, last night, he changed it up a little with the bat. He would go and try to throw the ball to us, and we'd hit it with the bat. I have to say he got pretty good at throwing it!

Towards the end of the baseball game here in the living room, Paul David did something that totally floored us. He had the ball in his hands, he was looking very serious, shook his head twice, then nodded! Holy cow, did he just shake off two pitches, but go with the last one from the imaginary catcher? I started laughing, and it must have embarrassed him or something because he came and climbed up in my lap and didn't play the game anymore. We can only guess that he's paying more attention to the game than we give him credit for!
So, coincidentally, here's the:
On This Day in Our History: May 21 & 22

May 21, 2003-Five years ago, yesterday, Paul and I went to our first Astros Game together! Who knew it would be the first of many, and by many I mean a TON! We just went on Monday, and he's actually going tonight!

May 22, 2004-One year later, almost to the day, we went to our first Round Rock Express game together (I think it may have been the first time I ate Double Dave's pizza, too). Then it was the Astros AA team (now it's their AAA team). It was right after Paul's graduation from UT, and afterwards we went and saw the tower on campus that had 04 showing in lights for the graduates!

Boring Tuesday...Not!

I thought this was going to be another one of our boring Tuesdays, and thought I'd have to post about Garbage Day for lack of anything better! OK, I'll go ahead and tell you that story, too. Eventhough, I don't know why I would want to tell anyone this except that I want it written down somewhere so that I'll remember that I used to do this! I know I'll forget! So, there are two days a week that I really pay attention to when Paul David's going poopy in his diaper---Tuesday and Friday! Those are Garbage Days here in our subdivision! I know he's going to go in the morning sometime; I'm just always hoping it's before I hear the truck coming down our street! He usually comes through for me, and we take the dirty diaper out to the trash cans and wave at our friendly Garbage Men! I know you're deciding that you could have done without that story, so you'll be happy to hear that lunch proved to be anything but boring!

I gave Paul David chocolate pudding, and he loved it! I can't wait to give it to him without his cast. I know he's going to love to smear it around and "paint" his highchair with it! Oh, the joy of chocolate pudding!

On This Day in Our History---May 20th:

1977: My Uncle Dub married Aunt Cindy! I was just a wee little one then, and there are pictures of the whole family at the wedding. Unfortunately, I don't have them, or I would scan them in for you to see! Together they've given us our cousins Georgetta, Brad and Rodney...who I used to babysit when I was driving my little yellow flatbed truck. Every time I went to their house, I would lose one or two hubcaps at one part of the road. Uncle Dub would always stop and pick them up for me! Oh, the day! Happy Anniversary!

Lily's Party

On our way to Lily's Party, we stopped for gas. This is a little game Paul David and Daddy play while Daddy pumps gas! Daddy goes from window to window trying to make Paul David laugh! They both love it!

Here's the birthday girl during the Happy Birthday song! Her pigtails are just precious!

Sweet Baby Foster! He was smiling away for Grammy!

Paul David enjoying the Party Horns! He was having the best time blowing on them! He could really make noise with it and thought it was hilarious!

1994

On This Day in Our History-May 19th

1994- On this day 14 years ago, Amanda, Jaime, Vivian, and I went to Dallas to go ice skating and to the Magic Time Machine! I was having a hard time finding something for today, so I started opening all those journals to May 19. This is what I found! I'm guessing we were finished with our classes by this time, but there's no mention of it in my journal! It sounded like Amanda and I had fun ice skating, and Jaime and Viv had fun shopping! We ate at the Magic Time Machine where the waiters and waitresses are dressed up as different characters, and their main objective is to embarrass you! Well, it seems Amanda was gulping down her cokes, so they just brought out a pitcher for her to drink out of! I went back into my photo albums and scanned this picture of Amanda! I have this picture, one of our waiter the jester, and one of the Magic Time Machine sign. Wow, have things changed. Today, I would have taken about 100 pictures of an exciting day like this!

Happy Birthday, Lily!

On this Day in Our History-May 18th

2006-Lily Renee was born to Paul's brother and his wife! Today she turned 2 years old! I just can't believe she's 2 already! We had a wonderful time at Lily's party today! She seemed to have a great time, too!

Happy Birthday, Lily!

On This Day In Our History!

I want to start a new dynamic to my blogging. As most of you know, I'm a documenter. This means that I enjoy documenting our life in many different ways. I like to take a lot of pictures, save ticket stubs, this blog, my favorite, keep a calendar, and many other ways I can't think of right now. I have calendars that I've kept since 1993. I just write down what events or things we do during the day. Since Paul David, I've written down a lot of his milestones. I even have journals from 93-95. Oh, those are filled with some interesting stories! So all this leads to my new idea for my blog:

In addition to the daily happenings of our own Paul David, I want to have an "On this Day in Our History" story to share with you guys! I want it to be daily, but as I've scoured my calendars, I'm finding that each day doesn't have something and others have more than one thing! A lot of the monumental happenings will also be Paul David's milestones he's met over the last 19 months.

So let's begin:

ON THIS DAY IN OUR HISTORY-May 17th

2002-Today, 6 years ago, was Paul and my first date! This is the day we met! So this is an appropriate place to start because this is where our history really began. We went to Outback Steakhouse that night. I remember exactly what I wore (black capri outfit that had dangly beads around the bottom of the top and legs). I also had on some shoes that I had only worn one time, so my biggest fear that night was that I would slip and fall on the slick hardwoods at Outback! After we ate, we went and saw "The New Guy." We had such wonderful conversations, and it was so comfortable to be with him. It felt like we had known each other forever! I'm so glad he called!

AND

2006-2 years ago on this day, I was 4 months pregnant with Little Man and I had just finished talking to Paul on the phone (he was in San Francisco). After our phone call, I was laying in bed, and felt this little thump on my belly. Then if felt like a bubble burst in my tummy. From then on, my stomach was in constant motion...kind of like little man now!

Google Reader

I mentioned the other day that Google is very smart, but I found a whole new reason to love Google yesterday! I'm sure I'm way behind on this technology, but I really think it's going to change the amount of time I'm on the computer by a lot! I have been spending a lot of time going to each blog in my favorites to check if there's any new entries. Well, this Google Reader checks on all the blogs you want and shows you when there's new entries without going to each one. It kind of looks like your e-mail inbox and shows when there's a new entry! You subscribe to each blog you want to keep up with. So when I find a new blog, I just copy the address and paste it into my Google Reader. Now I can just check Google Reader throughout the day instead of each individual site.

I just went to google.com, then under the More tab, found Reader. I hope this helps others out there! Let me know if you find anything you think would make my life a little easier!

Outside Fun!

I have not been wanting to take Paul David outside much because of the cast and dirt and all, but this morning I gave in! He had fun just running around the front yard, and I had fun playing photographer. It must have worn him out because we're on hour 2 of his nap! Since he was still sleeping so well, I decided to play around on Picasa like Krystal had been telling me about! Oh, man, it's great! I've been wondering how she has the patience to upload all those pictures one at a time...well, I just discovered that she doesn't upload one at a time! This program does it all for you! That Google sure is smart!

So here are some of my favorite shots from this morning! Look at how sweet this baby is!

It's a Deal!

Ok, for all you deal seekers like me, McDonald's has a great promotion today. Until 7 pm tonight, you can buy a medium or large drink (chocolate milk doesn't count...I just tried) and get a free Southern Style Chicken Sandwich. It's the one that's like Chick-fil-A's, but it's just not as good. I guess that may be why they're free! They are edible, so it would make a great lunch, snack or dinner. Happy Eats!

By the way, I found out about this deal on one of my favorite new websites www.moneysavingmom.com She's always posting great finds and deals! Then, I saw it advertised on TV last night!

Oh, The Things Paul David Can Do...

Paul David can...
Beg and Beg and Beg to brush his teeth all day!

Here's What He's wanting: Yes, he got it! I figure brushing your teeth is a good habit, so I give in pretty easily.
He's so happy to just brush his teeth!

Paul David can...
Finally eat mashed potatoes with a fork/spoon!
Scoop it up...

Put it in my mouth:

Mashed Potato Beard!!

Paul David can...
Climb on Daddy!
He goes crazy when someone lays down on the floor!
He climbs all over us. He was giving Daddy lots of good kisses, too.
Of course that's when the battery died on the camera.

Even with a cast!
We went back to the Orthopedic today for x-rays. It's healing well, and hopefully June 4th will be Cast-Off Day! Yay!
