24 Hours Later

My poor baby is sick! He was a wild man last night running around and playing. Then about 1:00 am, I heard this weird coughing coming from his room. When I went in, he was breathing kind of weird and went to sleep on my chest. He did sound like he was snoring though. At 5, we woke to little noises coming from his room again. We went to check on him, and it just sounded like he was snoring (like a man, too!) Well, he didn't wake up until 9:00 this morning and had fever! Then he coughed...it sounded like a dog barking! That's when I called to get a dr. appointment. He has the CROUP! In less than 24 hours he got the croup...man that's fast and from out of nowhere! So we have to go get the steroid after he wakes up. Poor, poor little guy!

Remember how I was writing about how busy he is...well, she said to try to keep him as low key as possible. What??? That's going to be a tough one with him!

Beautiful Weather

We have had some of the most beautiful weather lately. It just makes you want to be outside all day! Sunday afternoon, Paul cooked dinner outside on the grill while we played and enjoyed the cool breeze that came through! Then this morning, Paul David and I enjoyed our walk and playing at the park! Beautiful weather means lots of good pictures for me!

Do you ever take a picture thinking you're getting this great shot of the perfect little smile only you get the weirdest, funniest expression? This happens to me all the time, hence the thousands of pictures I take to get that one good shot! Here's one I found in this batch!

This expression he may get from me! I've been known to have this look on my face at times when I'm thinking about something! I guess this is what it looks like!

Did you hear?

As you all know, Paul David is at the funnest age right now! We are enjoying every second with our little man! I was noticing this weekend after being at several different events that I hear some of the same comments about Paul David. I thought I'd share them while I can still remember them!

-"Look at that curly hair!"

-"He's pretty busy, huh?"

-"Who does he get that hair from?" (Paul had this same hair as a little boy!)

-"He doesn't stop, does he?" (Not unless he's asleep or just woke up!)

-"Boys are really different from girls!"

We do love our busy, curly headed little boy! He is so much fun and just a joy to have in our lives!

Busy Life

I'm going to play catch up on what we've been doing lately!

On Monday, we went to the zoo with Grammy, Justin, and Uncle Bobby (Mike's brother) and met Amanda, Coleman, and Spence there! The boys had the best time. Spence and Paul David walked their little legs off! Amanda did such a creative blog about this that I'm almost embarrassed to post mine! Check hers out at Coleman and Spence in my Friends and Family section!

Here are some of the highlights:

Sliding like the otters!

Then Monday night, we headed to the Astros Game for more fun! It was camo Astro Hat night, too!

Last night, I snuck in Paul David's room to take a picture of him asleep in his bed! I realized this the other night that we used to think he looked so small in that big bed, but now that bed looks so small with him in it...he's getting so big!

He's so funny---he still gets to one end of it! He used to do that from the time he started rolling over! I always put him down in the middle of the bed, but he must like the feel of the ends of the bed more!

Feb. 10, 2007-Only 4 months old! It's kind of a weird angle, but look how bald he was! This was the first time he slept with Lovey! Lovey's his best friend now!

My sweet little thumb sucker!

Oh, to be able to sleep like that!

One Cool Dude!

Here's Paul David in his Thomas sunglasses. He was actually putting them on by himself! He didn't even poke an eye out! Thanks Grammy for the cool sunglasses!

Another Addiction?

Hi! My name is Candice, and I have an addiction (as if I have time for any addictions.)

My sweet brother-in-law Justin got a Webkinz for Christmas. A couple of weeks ago I helped him set Simba David up on the internet. I've been playing games to earn him KinzKash ever since. Well, yesterday, I got it in my mind that I needed one also! So, Paul David and I head to Hallmark, and I buy the Pink Poodle! Now, the best part about that is that the Hallmark lady didn't laugh when I said that it was for me! She said that there's a lot of adults who buy them for themselves. Oh, the fun I'm having while Paul David naps! I can't stop playing the games, working in the employment office, buying cute stuff for our poodle, etc. Addicted I tell you! I just got to level 8 on Goober's Lab. I wish I had this when I taught Kindergarten! How cool would I have been if I had been a Webkinz fan?

I feel like I've been writing a lot about me lately. Paul David is still doing lots of cute stuff! His new funny is that he likes to put one of the little baseball helmets (you know the ones that they serve ice cream in at the stadiums) on Lovey's head. It's so cute. I'll try to get a picture of it! A not so funny that he's started doing is hitting us. Ooooh, not so fun! I've started telling him "no" and sitting him on the other couch. He does stop after that, but doesn't remember not to do it the next time!

We met some new friends today from our Bible Study. They invited us over for a play date, and guess what? They are all bloggers! I'm so loving that I'll have blogs to read of people I actually know! Yes, I'm a blog surfer. I hit the Next Blog button a lot! If it's in English, I read it!

Have a good weekend everyone!

OK, God, I'm Awake!

A couple of weeks ago in my Young Mom's Bible Study I told my little group that I was trying to figure out a time in my day to spend quiet time with God and read my lesson or the Bible. I mentioned that I wished I could get up when Paul did, around 6:30, and use the time before Paul David wakes. Our Mentor Mom, Paula, said that in time God would get me up. I thought she meant that over time, you can't sleep late anymore.

So, this week I've been doing really well getting up when Paul gets in the shower. I've been able to read my lesson and spend time on Rachel Olsen's lessons as well. This morning Paul had to get up 30 minutes early, so I decided that I would lounge in bed a little more than usual since it was earlier, and I would be spending time with God during Bible Study this morning. About 10 minutes after Paul had left, I hear the sound of my cell phone telling me "LOW BATTERY." I tried really hard to ignore it, but I finally went to the kitchen and plugged it in. As soon as I got back into bed, I heard it again...what? At first I thought it might be another phone, but Paul had taken his with him. So, I get back up and find that my phone was not plugged in all the way.

OK, God, I'm awake and up. Man, he's persistant! Paula was right...God did get me up this morning!

April's Birthday Weekend!

We traveled to my parents this weekend for April's Birthday Bash! She had a great party with around 60 people in attendance! Everybody loves April! We had yummy catfish, hush puppies, and fries. She was even able to blow out all 30 candles on her cake from the Butcher Shop...talk about yummy!

Here are some pictures from the weekend:

Blowing out the Candles...all 30 of them!

My dad has acquired a set of stadium bleachers since our last visit. He got them from a school and had to replace some of the boards. I have to say that they're pretty cool! After the party Saturday night, he and Paul burned the bonfire, and we all viewed it from the bleachers.

The crowd gets wild doing the wave!

Once again Preston looks like he's wondering what in the world is going on!

Fun with Friends!

We had a really fun day yesterday with our friends Amanda, Coleman and Spence! Amanda and I have been friends for so long, and it is so nice that we live close enough to spend the day with one another every so often! Our boys play really well together, so that's also a big plus!

Fun on the tire swing!

Looking out the window! This window was a major attraction for all the boys!

A game of chase! They had fun having Coleman chase them around the house!

It was a great day! Thanks for having us over Amanda!

Happy Birthday, April!

Happy birthday to you, Aunt April! We love you! Hope you had a great day!
Love, Paul David

Astros Home Opener

We all went to the Astros Home Opener against the Cardinals last night! That's one of our goals with Paul David. We want to take him to Opening Day each year! I want to get a picture of him sitting on a ball outside the stadium every year to see how much he's grown! Last year, he was only 4 months old! Counting Spring Training, the games last season and last night, he's been to 19 games so far in his little 18 month life! Pretty good!

He did really well at the game! We've decided he's a night game kind of guy! There were empty seats beside us, so I sat him down in the one beside me, and he just ate his way through the game! He and Daddy shared a sucker, too! The Astros won! We saw the three solo homeruns, but were leaving when the good stuff happened! Tejada hit a walk-off homerun to win it!

Here are some pics from our big night!

Batter, Batter Swing!

I know I've already posted pictures of our Big League Slugger Paul David, but he was really hitting the ball off the tee last night! He's a hoot! You all know Paul's bursting with pride! We got video of it, but me, our video camera and the computer are not getting along right now. Soon I hope to be able to post a video of it!

Paul called this his Julio Franco stance!

I had to sing "You are my best friend, I love you!" from Little Einsteins to get him to stop and smile at me! He's all over the place and non stop when we're outside!

Unfortunately, the Doodlefish didn't make it. So, meet our new fish. Her name is "FISH."

Please vote for how long Fish will make it!

I love to read your comments, too! It lets me know who visited!

There's another post from today! It's about ME!

Skinny Jeans

Some of you remember that I've kept some jeans I've had since I've moved to Kingwood. They're my "Skinny Jeans." They're Reverse Jeans from the Gap...tapered legs, high waist. I bought them when I worked at Duren and Sherman on one of the shopping trips (probably around 1998)! Yes, they are that old! I've never been "Skinny," but these jeans have been my goal. I know I could still wear them when I moved to Kingwood because there's a picture of me in them, and I looked good! I remember thinking then that I needed to lose some weight. Years later, I looked back on that picture and thought, "Oh, look how cute I was!" So, even though I haven't been able to wear them, I just couldn't part with them. Throughout the years, I've gone on diets and lost weight, and I'd go find them and try them on. Oh, the dissappointment when I couldnt' get them back on!

Skip to this morning! Monday is my weigh-in day, but it didn't cross my mind to step on the scale. I went straight to the closet to pick out something nicer to wear to CVS (nicer than my nice yoga pants I usually wear!) and the baseball game tonight! So I try on a pair of jeans that have fit me and not fit me depending on the month and day, and when I put them on this morning, they were LOOSE! So, I think about my Gap jeans, and just for kicks, I go try them on! Guess what guys...my skinny jeans FIT! I couldn't believe it! Now, I am probably not ever going to wear them in public just because they are WAY out of style...talk about Mommy jeans, but I was so excited! Then I weighed and since May 5th, I've lost 37 pounds! Ooh, Ooh, ME!

Out of Control!

Not Paul David, Me! This morning Paul said something that made me think I might be out of control! He said, "It's so nice to know that when I wake up in the morning, I don't have to worry if I have deodorant or not!" He says this as he's looking at the shoe organizer on the bathroom door that is holding 10 cans of his deodorant (plus 30 tubes of toothpaste and 20 toothbrushes). All of this plus more I've gotten basically for free from CVS! I get so wrapped up in it that I sometimes get things we don't really need, but they're FREE! Who can pass that up? It's become such a game for us! My mother-in-law has decided she's OCD (Obsessive CVS Disorder) which I think is a hoot! I might have a touch of it, too! I definitely have enough Advil, Tylenol and Excedrin PM's to get a small country to sleep! This week it's time to stock up on diapers and more Excedrin! Hopefully, I won't have to knock anyone down to get what I want! Gotta go clip my coupons!

Little Monkey

This morning we heard Paul David in his bed talking away around 6:30! Well, like any loving parent would do on a Saturday morning, we let him talk away while we slept a little longer! After awhile, I thought he'd gone back to sleep, but around 7:45, we heard this loud crying. So Paul got up to go get him, and HE WAS OUT OF HIS BED! Now, granted we had not lowered the bed to the bottom (it is now!), but it was still quite a climb to get over it! He only had one little red spot on his forehead. Paul said he was holding Lovey (Lovey had to come over the top, too because he can't get out through the sides), so maybe Lovey broke some of the fall! Hopefully we've solved this issue...I'm not sure I'm ready for him to be in the toddler bed yet!

Batter Up!

You are not going to believe this, but I really think Paul David picked up on the whole batting thing at Spring Training. He's started going to get a ball and bringing it to me or Paul, then he moves back from us and does this:

Maybe that's developmentally appropriate for 18 months, but he just amazes me at the things he's starting to do!

Now a sweet, sweet story. We were sitting on the couch cuddling after his not-so-great nap this afternoon. He was kissing Lovey and holding Lovey up for me to kiss, then he turned his face up to me and KISSED me! Oh, my heart just melted and I cried! He doesn't kiss very often, so this was just one of those moments you wish someone was videoing your life. I guess he saw how pleased I was because he did it four more times! Now if you've ever seen Paul David kiss, you know this is a funny sight. He kisses open mouth right to your mouth. The sweetest thing ever!

One last thing before I got to bed: Nana- you may not get your watch back! My mom let me borrow her watch to carry on the plane with me to Florida, so I'd know what the time was since I had to turn my cell phone off. Paul David played with it most of the time he was awake on the plane, and it got left on the table when we got home. He's found it and claimed it as his own!

I just had to include this one, too! He's laughing at me peeking out from around the camera. He'd say "Oh, there you are!" and just laugh! He makes me feel like a comedian sometimes!

This is the second post today, so read on if you haven't seen the next one already!

Bathtime!

We've had a busy couple of days. After last week, where 3 of the 5 days we didn't even get out of pajamas, it's been crazy! Yesterday, we made dinner for some friends who'd had babies and took it to them. Paul David had fun running around their houses and playing with new toys! Then we met two of our friends at Skeeters. It was two of the girls I had in Kindergarten and their moms (and one's brother who I'd had in K, too!) Anyway, the girls are in 6th grade now...UGH, time flies! They all had the best time with Paul David. After we'd eaten, Paul David went to the gameroom with them, and they all played with the bouncy ball! Too fun!

Today, we started off with a walk, but I made the mistake of going by the park! Paul David said, "YOUT!" which is OUT in Paul David Language! So, we had time, and we played at the park. Well, of course things were wet! So Paul David got muddy and wet and gross! I had to undress him to put him back in the stroller! We came home, and he got a morning bath (we're usually night bath people!)

I took this picture so you could see how long his hair is when it's not dry and curly! It's just crazy to me how much hair he has! He had none 6 months ago!

6 Months Ago (One Year Old)

Fun in the Tub!

"I even wear hats during my bath!"

After his bath and my shower, we hosted a Pizza Play Date with some of our friends! Paul David always has so much fun with his little friends. The mommies had fun talking and eating pizza! Oh, Paul David enjoyed the pizza, too! What a great day! Now let's hope for a great NAP!
