My friend, Krystal and I were talking the other day about how we hoped that our blogs showed our real life, and not just all the good, fun stuff. I really think mine is guilty of just showing the good because sometimes, you just don't want to share the really awful stuff that happens behind closed doors! Really though, we have very few bad days around here, but they're usually not just one incidence...it's usually a build up of a bunch of things, but by the time he goes to bed, I can't remember why it was so bad!
Well, yesterday it was bad...in one instant, I turned into Paul David's worst nightmare...or I hope that's what he got out of it:)
It was about 7:00...Paul was running late, and I decided to just go ahead and feed Paul David. He asked for popcorn (you know those Christmas tubs with cheese, butter and caramel popcorn in them), so I just opened the tin for him to graze while I fixed his dinner. The next thing I know, the tub is being turned UPSIDE DOWN on the carpet. We were at the bottom of the tub with only caramel left (which leads me to believe that he was dumping it to find the cheese...his favorite) and about a MILLION crumbs (side note: I had just vacuumed yesterday morning!)
So, I let out a "NOOOOOOO" that was more like a low growl that sounded a lot like Satan! I ran over and gave him a swat, then started in with the fussing. I won't go into the whole conversation, but it included words like I trusted you, Mommy's sad, Mommy's disappointed...you know all the words a 2 year old had NO idea about, but made me feel better...I was that hot! So I try to get him to help me pick it up..."NO" he tells me through his sobs. I start using my hand with his hand to pick it all up...his hand touched every piece that got picked up. He didn't like the caramel sticky on his hand at all, so there was lots of crying through this.
In the middle of all this, I thought about my sweet friend, Amanda, who'd had a similar happening a couple of weeks ago with a 2 year old, a bag of powdered sugar and some grout, and she kept her cool and didn't get upset. Well, that wasn't me last night, even though I wished it had been. I'm going to have to work on my initial reaction to things!
The rest of the evening consisted of: a bath with no bath toys, no more Mickey on TV (I got to watch the Bachelor while he played), and eating dinner while watching me vacuum. I sure hope he got the point. Daddy made him apologize to me when he got home.
Let's get back to cuteness today, shall we???
Mama said there'd be days like this...

UPDATE: I finished this post, went and got him out of bed, gave him his milk and some Cheerios, went to the bathroom, and came back to find this:

Luckily for him, I didn't get as upset because I had heard it happen and prayed to be calm, yet firm. He did have to pick them all up and put them in the bowl (well, the ones he didn't eat that is). ARGH! What has gotten into this child???
