We're Going On A Trip...

In our favorite Rocket ship; Going through the sky, Little Einsteins!

I've been wanting to blog these pictures for a while now, so here we go! Paul David enjoys the Disney cartoon Little Einsteins. At some point in every show, they always need Rocket to fly Super Fast. They go through the musical speeds to get him flying fast. Each speed has a different hand motion, and Paul David has started to mimic them. So cute! Here's his version of flying Super Fast!

Start at Adagio. Pat the beat on your legs, slowly.

Moderato---Now, pat the beat on your tummy a little faster.

He missed his tummy by a little, but that's what he did when I said it!

Allegro---Pat the beat on your shoulders even faster.

I love this one...they cross their arms and pat the opposite shoulder.

This is the one he does most often.

Presto---Now put your hands in the air as high as you can and shake your whole body!

Now where flying SUPER FAST! Hold on tight 'cause here we go!

There's Paul David's version! Cartoons these days are all about teaching them something...which I can't say is a bad thing! He loves them!

Happy Mother's Day!!

I hope everyone's having a wonderful Mother's Day! I got the cutest card---Every "Birdy" loves me! Being a Mother has got to be hands down the best thing that's ever happened to me! Each day is different and amazing in its own special way! God has blessed us with the perfect child for our lives...I can't even remember what it was like without him!

Cast and Astros

Paul David got his hard cast on yesterday morning. He was so awesome. We gave him a safety pop to suck on while they wrapped it, and he hardly made a peep! We had to get baby blue because the orange that they had was neon orange, not regular Longhorn orange! Oh, well, the baby blue will be easier to sign. He doesn't have to wear the sling anymore either...thank goodness because that thing was getting dirty, and I was washing it every night! So far, we haven't been hit in the head with it. I guess it'll happen soon enough! Oh, and the best part is that he only has to wear it 3-4 weeks! Praise God!

Still Climbing! That's Dorito dust on his mouth!

Last night we went to Paul David's third Astros Game of the season! We had a fun time watching the game...okay, Paul David had a fun time eating, drinking my drink, eating, watching the Train, playing with the kid behind us, eating and every once in a while clapping when the crowd clapped! So, he did participate some! It's amazing how well he does do at the games considering how much he's on the go and moving when we're at home! We even stayed until the end of the game to see the Astros win with a walk off single! Fun times! Paul and I are going back tonight without Paul David, and I'm going to keep score for the first time this season...I'm so excited!

One Day Down!

Well, we've got one day down...around 41 to go with the casted arm (assuming it's on for 6 weeks). Actually, Paul David won't get the hard cast until Wednesday. He has done so well. He really doesn't even notice it there most of the time. His frustration level has risen a couple of times, but some of things he gets frustrated about don't have anything to do with his arm. Aside from having a huge right arm that is immoble and in a sling, he's his old self again!
Here's how our first day went: "See, I can still run!"

Playing with his "We're Sorry You Broke Your Arm New Toy!"

Paul said on Monday that usually when a kid breaks something he gets a new toy or something. Well, I had someone recommend this toy to me, so we went to Wal-Mart and picked one up! He has enjoyed it...he mostly likes to roll the balls and fish down it though!

Giving Fish a Hug! AWW!

And as promised from a previous post, here's Lovey in his baseball helmet! Poor Lovey gets dressed like this, then Paul David gets a bat and whacks the helmet off his head! Yesterday, I pretended Lovey was crying after he got hit, but Paul David just looked at me funny! We're working on empathy!

The Good, The Bad and The Ugly

THE GOOD------

My parents came for a visit this weekend. It's always so wonderful to have them here. Nana loves to give Paul David all her kisses! He was still feeling pretty cranky, so she was treated to lots of snuggle time! Nana gave away a lot of kisses...I think Paul David only "gave" kisses to his toy train!

THE BAD-------

Yesterday afternoon Mother, Paul David and I were going to go to get newspapers and to CVS. I grabbed Paul David's shoes and for some reason decided to just hold him to put his shoes on. They were is imitation Crocs, so they would just slide on! Well, when I went to put them on his foot, he lunged backwards and fell right to the carpeted floor. Scared all of us half to death, but he calmed down after some cuddling and Lovey! We went on to run our errands, but he was oh so cranky all afternoon and night. He just stayed in someone's lap all day...every once in awhile he would cry out. We went through all the possibilities...stomach ache, constipated, still sick from the croup, etc. Nothing seemed to help, so he finally went to bed.

THE UGLY------

Today, Paul David finally brightened up a little, but not 100%...maybe not even 75%...at times 25%. He showed an interest in going outside this afternoon, so I jumped on it. I wanted him to feel better so bad! While outside, he threw the baseball with his right hand and cried out. We started noticing that he was avoiding using his right arm for anything. We brought him in immediately, and Paul noticed a bump on his collarbone. Mike came over and seconded that he thought it was probably his clavicle. So off to the ER we go. Luckily, Mike knew of an ER that's not with a hospital and usually not very busy. We got there around 2 and by 2:20 had x-rays of his clavicle being seen by the doctor. He said it looked fine, so we were thinking it was just sore, when he said he thought he wanted to x-ray his arm. Here's the ugly...a fracture in each bone of his wrist. OH MY HEAVENS! They had to splint it, and we have to go get a cast put on tomorrow. He has this little sling to put it in, and it doesn't seem to bother him a bit. Actually, when we got home (around 3:30...yes, only 1 1/2 hours in the ER...let me know if you ever need the name of it...hopefully you won't) he played more and was happier than I'd say he's been the whole weekend. This picture doesn't show it though...it was when we first got home.

So now I feel like the worst mother ever. I'm trying hard not to blame myself, but I feel so bad. I think I would feel bad even if I had nothing to do with it...I think that's just part of being a mommy! Thanks for listening...this is like therapy...getting it all out there!

Who Does He Look Like?

I scanned some pictures of Paul and me at 18 months. I thought it would be neat to share them with you guys. Who does Paul David look like?

Me

Michael and Paul

I think he's a great mix of us both! Perfect in every way!

P.S. Paul David's feeling a lot better! No fever today and hardly any coughing!

Thanks for all the thoughts and prayers!

24 Hours Later

My poor baby is sick! He was a wild man last night running around and playing. Then about 1:00 am, I heard this weird coughing coming from his room. When I went in, he was breathing kind of weird and went to sleep on my chest. He did sound like he was snoring though. At 5, we woke to little noises coming from his room again. We went to check on him, and it just sounded like he was snoring (like a man, too!) Well, he didn't wake up until 9:00 this morning and had fever! Then he coughed...it sounded like a dog barking! That's when I called to get a dr. appointment. He has the CROUP! In less than 24 hours he got the croup...man that's fast and from out of nowhere! So we have to go get the steroid after he wakes up. Poor, poor little guy!

Remember how I was writing about how busy he is...well, she said to try to keep him as low key as possible. What??? That's going to be a tough one with him!

Beautiful Weather

We have had some of the most beautiful weather lately. It just makes you want to be outside all day! Sunday afternoon, Paul cooked dinner outside on the grill while we played and enjoyed the cool breeze that came through! Then this morning, Paul David and I enjoyed our walk and playing at the park! Beautiful weather means lots of good pictures for me!

Do you ever take a picture thinking you're getting this great shot of the perfect little smile only you get the weirdest, funniest expression? This happens to me all the time, hence the thousands of pictures I take to get that one good shot! Here's one I found in this batch!

This expression he may get from me! I've been known to have this look on my face at times when I'm thinking about something! I guess this is what it looks like!

Did you hear?

As you all know, Paul David is at the funnest age right now! We are enjoying every second with our little man! I was noticing this weekend after being at several different events that I hear some of the same comments about Paul David. I thought I'd share them while I can still remember them!

-"Look at that curly hair!"

-"He's pretty busy, huh?"

-"Who does he get that hair from?" (Paul had this same hair as a little boy!)

-"He doesn't stop, does he?" (Not unless he's asleep or just woke up!)

-"Boys are really different from girls!"

We do love our busy, curly headed little boy! He is so much fun and just a joy to have in our lives!

Busy Life

I'm going to play catch up on what we've been doing lately!

On Monday, we went to the zoo with Grammy, Justin, and Uncle Bobby (Mike's brother) and met Amanda, Coleman, and Spence there! The boys had the best time. Spence and Paul David walked their little legs off! Amanda did such a creative blog about this that I'm almost embarrassed to post mine! Check hers out at Coleman and Spence in my Friends and Family section!

Here are some of the highlights:

Sliding like the otters!

Then Monday night, we headed to the Astros Game for more fun! It was camo Astro Hat night, too!

Last night, I snuck in Paul David's room to take a picture of him asleep in his bed! I realized this the other night that we used to think he looked so small in that big bed, but now that bed looks so small with him in it...he's getting so big!

He's so funny---he still gets to one end of it! He used to do that from the time he started rolling over! I always put him down in the middle of the bed, but he must like the feel of the ends of the bed more!

Feb. 10, 2007-Only 4 months old! It's kind of a weird angle, but look how bald he was! This was the first time he slept with Lovey! Lovey's his best friend now!

My sweet little thumb sucker!

Oh, to be able to sleep like that!
