Opening Presents...

This part of the party/Christmas stresses me OUT! Paul David is NOT interested in opening any gifts. It is just constant, "Paul David, Paul David, Look." He's just wanting to be somewhere else! We did get him to pay attention to some of the gifts!

The Baseball Ornament my sister made for him:
She made him a baby block out of the fabric in the nursery, then last year, a #1. She's so good!

Happy Birthday to you...

Happy Birthday to you,
Happy Birthday Paul David,
Happy Birthday to you!
Make a wish!
He was actually trying to blow and if he'd been just a little closer, I think he would have done it himself!

In the end, I helped!

The Pinata

I made this into Baby Friendly Pinata where all they had to do was pull the string. This year I held the string that released the candy until the end...last year, I pulled it off first trying to show them how!

Playing with His New Toys

Here are some of the new toys Paul David got:

A Football Helmet for Lovey...it's really one you set on the shelf, but since it fit Lovey, it's now his!

His train track with his birthday Thomas, Jack, James, Edward, and Gordon

Shooting hoops in the new basketball goal:

Looking through the Nemo View Master. Here he was saying, "Look, Mommy, Fish!"

New Fishing Puzzles:

Telephone...I swear he was playing with it right before I took the picture. He's also wearing one of his new shirts under that yellow one:

This is what I found when I went to check on him before I went to bed:

Austin Park

We tagged along with Paul to Austin Thursday night, and Paul David and I went found a park to play at while Paul was at his recruiting thing. Thank goodness for the GPS because I would have never found it, but I was so glad that I did!

He had the best time, and so did I. We miss going to the park...it's still been pretty hot here and Ike brought all that debris which has harvested mosquitoes. I just haven't thought it would be okay enough yet to go, but hopefully soon!

Here's my favorite reason for going to the park...the pictures you get:

He took FOREVER to go up the steps to go over the bridge to the slides. He would go up 2 then come down. After doing that 20 times, he'd go up 3, then finally 4. After all the other kids had left (30 minutes), he just walked up them all, went across the bridge, and down the slide. At the end, he even went all the way to the big spiral slide! He was filthy and sweaty and HUNGRY!

I had decided that we would go to dinner at Chuy's...one of my all-time favorite restaurants. We got to the parking lot, and it was PACKED. I couldn't even find a place to park. I decided to look up the phone number on GPS and just order it to go. Then, GPS (AKA Karen...do any of you have names for your GPS, too?) directed me to McDonald's to get Paul David a Happy Meal. I didn't say anything about where we were going or what we were getting. As soon as I drove into the Drive Thru, he says, "I anna Chee-burger!" HA! I cracked up! He got his Chee burger and ate every single bite of it...I got my cheese enchiladas, green chile rice and creamy jalapeno and ate every single bite of it! MMMM!

Paul David's Train Table

Remember a few months ago when I said that we HAD to have a train table because it had occupied Paul David so well?

Paul built him one for his birthday!!!!!!

He built a cover for our coffee table, then covered it in felt, and we hot glued the track down to it. It is GREAT! Paul and I glued the track down on Wednesday night, then it was like Christmas the next morning...
I brought Paul David in to the living room, and he went right to it saying, "Choo choo train track!"
He played his little heart out most of the day!

The Piks Visit

You wouldn't belive how far behind I am on my pictures...really far behind for me!

I was going through some today and realized that I never blogged about Amanda and her boys coming to visit and swim! We all had so much fun...Amanda and I visiting and the boys playing. It's just awesome that they all play so well together.

Spence and Paul David are only 4 weeks apart in age!
Coleman can swim like a fish!

Spence was always ready for me to take his picture...Paul David, not so much!

I know it's been a month ago that we got together Amanda, but we had a great time! We'll do it again soon at your house!

Mom's Day Out...Day 2...

Paul David went back to Mom's Day Out on Monday. I knew it would probably be like the first day all over again since he'd only gotten to go once before Ike. He started whining and saying "Mommy" as soon as we pulled into the church parking lot. He got better, but as soon as I went to hand him over the door, it was all screams and teeth! Poor thing, when he screams like that all I can see are his teeth! Anyway, they said that they didn't even get across the room with him before he'd stopped and found a toy he wanted. Good boy!

So Sarah picked him up for me and kept him a few more hours so I could get a little more done for the party...isn't she the sweetest? Anyway, when they got home I looked in his bag and found this:

It's one of those painting sheets where you only have to have a wet paintbrush and and the color comes out. As you can see, there's only one spot of water that was applied. So I say, "Well, looks like that didn't work out too well!" I'd probably guess one of the teachers made that wet mark trying to show him what to do!

Then I read this:
HA! He was too busy with other things to "paint." This totally cracked me UP! I'm so saving this forever...I guess that's how it goes...crafty mom that taught Kindergarten gets "Don't Make Me Do a Craft or I Might Die" Son! Oh, there goes my hopes for doing all these crafts I've ordered from Oriental Trading! Maybe Lily and Kendall will come over and "craft" with me someday!

TEN...

That's the number of pounds I anticipate gaining this week due to Paul David's birthday!

I decided to make his cake this year since I was kind of disappointed in the one we bought last year (I could have totally made it for sure!) So for two days now, I've managed to lick every ounce of cream cheese icing off the beater, the spoons before I put them in the sink, the knives, and some bowls. Yesterday, I was even eating the chocolate cake that I cut from the practice cake...then last night we ate a piece of the practice cake just to make sure it tasted okay!

Now, I've moved on to the grated cheese for the baked potato casserole...somebody stop me before I get into the pinata candy...AAAAHHHH!

I still have two whole days to go and still have to make cupcakes, finish decorating cookies and make the "for real" cake! Then the party...let's just not even think that far!

Hopefully, everyone will so overly impressed with how awesome the cake looks that they won't see how unclean my house is...I'm trying to get to it, but it's a lot more fun to eat the icing!
