Winter The Dolphin

On Thursday morning, we made the 2 hour trek to Clearwater, Florida.
Clearwater is the Spring Training Home of the Phillies, but it's also the home of Winter the Dolphin from A Dolphin Tale movie.  The Clearwater Marine Aquarium was were Winter was brought in 2005 when she was found in a crab trap.  She eventually lost her tail, but she beat the odds and taught herself to swim without a tail, but she swims more like a fish than a dolphin without it.  Her story was heard by a Prosthetic Company, and they worked with her trainers and doctors to make a special gel and prosthetic that will help her swim like a dolphin and help her spine to last longer.

They filmed the movie here at the Aquarium, so when you first walk up, you see Clay and Hazel's boat house...so COOL!

And then we found Winter swimming!
She only puts on her prosthetic a couple of times a day to swim, so we never got to see here with her tail:

The Aquarium also has 3 other dolphins that they've rescued.

Nicholas put on a great show for us:

During Winter's Show, they did therapy with her, so you could see some of the work and training they do with her:

They also had sea urchins and sting rays, a couple of nurse sharks and lots of rescued turtles!

In Downtown Clearwater, they've made a museum of sorts of a lot of the props from the Movie.  This was a holographic of Winter swimming that the kids LOVED!  They watched Winter for over 10 minutes:)
One of Winter's favorite toys is a blue mat, and this one was used in the movie.  They had is propped up, so you could stand in front of it and look like you're floating on it!

There was a Save Winter Day Carnival area with games like they had on the movie, too:

And finally, they had a Hurricane Simulation where you walked through Sawyer's house, then outside during a hurricane.  It was rough and scared the kids, but I thought it was cool!

Of course, they sell stuffed Winters, and we came home with two of them!

We LOVED seeing and meeting Winter, and it makes watching the movie so much better:)

Day 4-Astros Spring Training Game

On Wednesday, we headed to Kissimmee to watch the Astros Spring Training game.

The Little Boys in their Astros Gear!

The Big Boys in their Jersey's, too:)
In front of the Florida home of Our Houston Astros:
 And ORBIT was there!!!!!

 Loving the game!
It was a gorgeous day...actually, besides the rain the day before we had amazing weather!

 Exploring the Stadium:

Paul took the boys down to get an autograph from Justin Maxwell, and there was a little boy that got a baseball autographed.  Judson said to Paul, "I want a baseball, Daddy!" and this lady heard him and gave him this foul ball she had gotten!
Orbit came up the stands by us and stopped and stole Foster's sucker!  It was really funny, and Paul got a picture of him giving it back!
At the end of the game, the guys took the boys down and got a couple more autographs and got Jose Altuve's!  He's probably the most popular player on the team!  Super cool!

The day made us even more excited for Opening Day!

Hollywood Studios

On Tuesday morning, we woke up to rainy skies:(  Mike and Sarah had thoughtfully packed emergency panchos, so we suited up and decided to make the best of it at Hollywood Studios.
Before we even made it through the gate, we saw our friend Sara!  How exciting!

The first thing we did was go ride Toy Story Mania!  BEST ride at Disney!  It was in 3D and you go through a series of Arcade games and try to score points!  It was really cool!

Then, we went and saw a couple of the shows to try to stay out of the rain!  We saw The Little Mermaid, then went to Disney Junior's show!  It was a favorite!
They even had Jake and the Neverland "Umpirates" playing!

Judson looking for treasure with his binoculars:

 The Treasure Chest!

Gold de Plumes fell from the sky and Judson was on a mission to collect everyone of them!

We also got to see Beauty and the Beast, which is one of my favorite shows at Disney...

And this is the moment Paul David became obsessed with all things Tower of Terror...except he wouldn't ride it:)
The rain finally let up, so we found a great spot to watch the Pixar Parade:

Which kind of ended up being a bummer because there was no Nemo or Lightning McQueen, but it was cute and gave us a little rest!

We decided to do Toy Story Mania again since that was a hit with everyone:

We also started our Pressed Penny collection, which took a lot of time:
 Group Picture with Mickey's Hat:

 Sweet Brothers:

So, we took the boys on a bus over to Epcot to ride the Monorail for a bit, and Judson fell alseep sitting up on Paul on the way over:

But the Monorail ride at Epcot was awesome!  I didn't realize/had forgotten that the Monorail takes you into part of the park, so we got to see the Epcot Ball a lot and close up!

We rode it round trip twice, so we were on it about 45 minutes.  Paul David was in heaven, and to be honest, it was really nice just to sit and ride:)

We came back and watched The Muppets in 3D:

 Found Lightning McQueen and Mater:
which Paul David was not excited about as you can tell:
 But Judson was:
Then, we headed to watch The Nighttime Show, Fantasmic:

Love the ship with all the characters!

Ended up being a really fun, great day!

Day 2--Tigers Game

Monday ended up being a really restful day!
We got to sleep in (or in our case, get some meds for the sick troops), then headed to Lakeland for a Tiger's Spring Training game!

When we got back, the kids jumped in the pool while Paul cooked us up some breakfast for dinner! It was just what the tummy doctor ordered:)

So thankful that all the kids know how to swim now, so we adults don't have to brave the frigid water:)
